No angle here, man.
No angle at all, I promise. Do I always know best? No. Do I know the best solution to every problem? No. Am I right about everything, all the time? No.
You might not agree with me. But the one thing that is true, the reason that you should feel confident trusting me and able to hear me with an open mind, is that I am never going to want you to follow me, or give me anything. I have nothing to sell you. I don't gain socially or financially in any way by pubishing the site. I just have ideas and I like talking about ideas with people. I like thinking about things and how to communicate them. I just like to think about things. I am always thinking and I find it to be such a joyful experience. The only thing that I benefit from this personally and intellectually is by establishing a place for myself to think about things from different perspectives… from anthropological perspectives, historic perspectives, contemporary expectives, economic perspectives, through this lens, through that theory, according to different world views. It's interesting. I like doing it. And I think that we would all be a lot better off if we all spent a little bit more time thinking about things from different perspectives, trying to understand them from various complex and simple positions. I’ve already written about challenging our beliefs on this site. This is how I do that. This is the intellectual work that I do to accomplish goal. And I'd like to invite others to join me. That's what this page is and why this page exists.
You’ll notice that I'm also not selling you snake oil remedies. I am not selling you any miracle cures. I'm not selling you one-step solutions. I'm not promising any revolutions. In fact, I'm promising the exact opposite, i’ve written about that too. I'm promising slow change over time and relatively simple and mundane ideas that are not likely to excite. And I'm suggesting that it will take a lot of everyone's effort and energy. It will require work. I'm not selling you something. And I'm not playing a smoke and mirrors game to reach my fingers into your wallet. I just want to figure out what we can do to make things better, and I believe strongly that things can be better. But we have to do the work.
Sincerely,
Lucas Randall Perry.
